From the Grace ride, take Torrent and take a ride mostly to the north, but always slightly east through this lake. Be wary of enemies as the entrance to the Sage’s Cave is located on the cliff side along the edge of the lake.

It’s dark inside Sage’s Cave, so make sure you have an emergency flashlight or torch on be on hand. Take your Grace within the Cave, and proceed left to the tunnels.

You’ll come to an endpoint; however, if you roll, the wall will vanish. Proceed forward and then to the left. Don’t forget your attention to the Crystal Cave Moss and Budding Cave Moss that are scattered throughout the Cave.

Continue on to the chests, and loot the Golden Runes from the corpses in the Cave’s next area. You can also collect the many Silver Fireflies.

Look to the left and toward the two flames from where the bodies are. The wall in this area is a fake, with many more skeletons. Take a look at the wall and prepare yourself for attack prior to moving forward.

How do you beat the Black Knife Assassin of Sage’s Cave?

Fighting with a Black Knife Assassin is likely to be an uphill battle. The assassins are seen everywhere in The Lands Between. If they’re not pestering you as bosses of dungeons, The principal boss Rennala Queen of the Full Moon summons one, or they’re trying to chase the player around Ordina.

They’re inevitable and one of the most irritating enemies in Elden Ring due to their brutal and vicious nature.

As you might have discovered in the past, Black Knife Assassins are extremely quick and agile. They can repeatedly attack at a distance and then close it by teleporting short distances and can catch you by surprise when they’re speeding by your position and trying to take you out. In this scenario, combats that are ranged are likely to be nearly impossible to utilize. If you’re using an Intelligence build, go to use using the Moonveil Katana rather than spells in this particular fight.

Overall it is recommended to keep many health flasks in your be on hand, along with any other Talismans that assist in your HP or attack power. The Crimson Dagger, for instance, is an Assassin’s Crimson Dagger that can restore HP when you hit critical targets, and, surprisingly enough, you can get this talisman through a Black Knife Assassin as well.

In this particular battle, the Black Knife Assassin is also invisibly. You can, however, use the Sentry’s Torch item to bring them out, and you can also observe footsteps in the water surrounding the boss’s arena. Pay attention to them as they can inform you when the Assassins are trying to strike.

This fight will require Spirit Ashes, as your summons can also find the place where the Assassins are. If you can determine exactly where the Assassin’s location is and when they’re likely to strike, then you’ll be able to attack them with backstabs. You’ll be unable to keep your eye on the enemy. During this battle, they’re invisible, which means you’ll probably have to do some research before trying to attack them.

Although the Sentry’s Torch and summons are extremely useful in this battle, any other AoE attacks or skills you have can come in handy against this undetectable foe. For instance, the Carian Greatsword or the Carian Greatsword spell or the Rivers of Blood katana skill, Corpse Piler, can be fantastic for this attack due to their broad sweep-cutting slashes.

A Concealing Veil can hide you from attackers when you are crouching.

When the Black KnifeAssassin is defeated, it will release an item called the concealed Veil item.

Sage’s Cave is over. If you want to learn more about the Black Knife Assassin, I would recommend a trip to the Black Knife Catacombs in case you haven’t. For more information on Elden Ring, take a look at our walkthrough for The Lands Between.
